The Joys of Journaling
Write it down, write it down. I recall my mother telling me that whenever I would run to her with some kind of vision, be it psychic or creative. I used to find it tedious but it has shown its reward in numerous ways throughout the years. I can honestly say that my journal truly is one of my best friends. Many of us feel awkward about this because we don’t think of ourselves as good writers. It is my hope that I can show you enough of the benefits of having you joyfully jotting down your feelings and ideas so that you too will know its value.
So many clients ask me what is the best way is for them to develop their psychic ability. I find myself, as most of us women do, echoing the words of my mother. Write things down. During the course of the day, all of us have a dialogue going with our intuition whether we recognize it or not. You may meet someone and feel either an instant distrust or rapport. Another time you may be asked to do something and have a bad or good feeling about it. Still, other times you may get a feeling of what it is someone is going to say or do. I could go on ad infinitum about these types of occurrences. What usually happens is that, within a short period of time, we forget about them and go about our business. Now I ask you, if you were trying to speak to someone and they continually ignored you, would you keep trying? I doubt it. Your intuition is the same. If you just keep ignoring it, it will ultimately stop trying to reach you. Just as muscles wither and atrophy without use, so too does intuition. A journal is a wonderful way to begin bridging the gap and to start exercising your psychic muscles. If you set aside a few minutes each day to write down the times that you have had intuitive feelings about things, you will be able to recognize your own abilities and give them the acknowledgment that they deserve. Doing this for a month or two is all that is needed for you to start seeing results. You will have intuitive moments more frequently and with more clarity. You might also want to keep your journal by your bedside so that you can write down dreams if they seem particularly important to you.
I am fond of saying that I am only a vessel for the words of spirit to come through. In order to do this, I must be a clear vessel and one way that I use to be clear is writing. There is a book whose title is You Can’t Afford The Luxury Of A Negative Thought. I believe that to be true and strive to live that as one of my mottos. It doesn’t mean that I don’t have negative thoughts. I do just like everyone else. The difference is that I don’t hold on to them. You know the way that it usually works. You get upset or worried about something and each minute it grows and festers until it seems, you cannot think of anything else. Not only is this not healthy for the mind and body, but it is also not healthy for the spirit. Where upset or worry reside, very little else can dwell. Intuition, creativity, and positive energy are blocked when we are consumed with the negative. One of the best ways to rid yourself of bad feelings is to write them down and get them out into the light of day. Once we have written such feelings down they seem to magically lose their power. If you read how you have been feeling, often you will be able to find solutions that you could not see when they were bottled up inside. Worries may seem to have been overblown when you have a chance to give them a realistic review. By writing feelings down you automatically give them a new perspective. Again, if you do this for a month or two, you will be amazed at the result. Positive energy, creativity, and intuition will be able to flow through you with ease and infuse your life with renewed energy. Perhaps most importantly, you will have created a space for the spirit to speak through you.
Another great use for a journal is to write down your dreams. Would you be surprised to learn that I remember up to three dreams a night? We usually wake up remembering our dreams only to have them fade within a few minutes. If you keep a journal by your bedside and, immediately upon awakening, write down a highlight or two of your dreams, you will begin to train your mind to remember them. Our dreams tell us a great deal of what is going on in our subconscious. In them lie answers to many of our daily dilemmas. They also are fertile ground for premonitions and spirit connection. I will go into this more in-depth in later posts but being able to remember and understand your dreams will bring many rewards into your life.
Again, it is my hope that you will give journaling a try. I know that in our hectic world, it is difficult to find extra time but we all need some me-time. Taking time to journal is the ultimate gift that you can give yourself on the road to self-fulfillment. You will find that in just a short period of time you will have greater clarity about all areas of your life and a greater connection to your intuition. Put down your inner critic and pick up pen and paper. Have fun and enjoy as a new and exciting inner world begins to emerge for you.
